Winter Time Skiing at Mt High
My good friend Sofie and I channeled our winter spirits and decided to take on Mt. High right before Christmas. We drove to gear rentals at McGrath's Ski and Snowboarding Rentals on HWY 2 in Wrightwood (about 5-10 minutes before Mt. High). Our total rental cost was about $40, which included everything we need to shred some snow. The owner and staff were very friendly and we got in and out of there within 10 minutes. Once we were done, we drove to the parking lot of Mt. High and surprisingly found a few spots close to the front. We ascended up from the parking lot to the lifts and it was surpisingly not challenging as we have imagined. I was nervous and excited at the same time since this is my first time skiing. Luckily, Sofie really helped me get my basic down and showed how to descend the slopes in the proper form. I did struggle for a bit at first. After a while, I got the hang of the tuns and stop motions so I didn't slip as much. After a few rounds at the beginner section, I decided to muster courage and try the advance course. The lift itself to the advance felt like a roller coaster ride and when we got all the way up there, I was amazed by the views as well as the intense slope going downwards. Slowly, but surely, I made by way down. I probably slipped at least 40 times this entire trip. But I was fortunate and I didn't sustain any injuries since I landed on my butt and side for the most part.
Yeah I'd go again when the opportunity arise!
